Email To My Artist

This is the email I sent to my artist asking for his permission to use his song. He replayed saying it was okay for me use his song for my media music project and I also got the lyrics.

Production Log Week 1

What Have You Contributed To This Week?
In the first week of the pre-production I had to present my music video pitch to my class to get feedback.I also had to choose my colleagues and the music video that I was going to film and I had to plan an idea for our chosen music video on a A3 paper. I think my music video pitch was good because I added a lot of information and went into detail, my colleagues who I chose was Yanick and Omar We had five minutes to decide who's music video idea we were going to use after deciding, the group chose my idea because they liked the idea of my music video and the song. After we had to do a three minute group rationale where we had to answer answers to some questions.

How Does This Fit In with The Production Schedule/Job roles/Overall Idea Of The Project?
Our group hasn't started filming yet for our music video and we don't know which scene we will chose for our video maybe we need to discuss it a bit more in our group.

Were There Any Problems?
We didn't have any problems for this week this was the first time we have paired up and I think this product would be good. We discussed ideas for music video and I think we would work very well as a group for this project.

How Did You/Will You Overcome Them?
If we had any problems for our music video we could find another solution for our music video. The only thing that our need is to focus and meet the deadlines for the music video production. And come up with good ideas in our group.

What Are Your Plans For The Following Week?
Next week  we will be pre-planning and working on our shooting scripts. We all used a shooting script in our other projects and we thought this was useful and to keep track of shots we need to film on what days and what types of camera shots and angles  we are going to use for the music video.

Are there any areas of the presentation you would like to give any more detail on?

I don't think there are any areas that I would detail I think I went into full detail of each examples on the presentation pitch and I also added examples of ideas of music videos that I want my music video to look like. As the Music video that is related to my idea. and my idea is to have a narrative at the beginning and it will have a man on top of a car park building trying to commit suicide because he broke up with his girlfriend and I would have a fade out then  have flashbacks in my video of the man breaking up with his girlfriend and I would have a performance in a living room in a house.and the music video would fade out again with his girlfriend dragging him from the top  of the building and taking him back.

What did your audience identify as areas for improvement as the strengths of your music video
My audience were asking good questions about my music video for example,  what was my main idea of my music video and where it was  going to be filmed and also why would I use the actors that I had used. And also the car park idea i had used that i needed permission for to shoot the music video there. also my audience asked if I need to use a green-screen for man on the roof of the car park.

What did your audience identify as areas for improvement ?
I didn't get any bad feedback from my audience for my music video idea. I was asked a question the question was if i couldn't use a car park roof what could I use,  I said I would change it to a house roof.

What changes will you make to your music video concept based on the feedback you received?
The only thing that I would change for my music video is the car park location to a roof of a house.

Creating my artists identity

 

The artist that I picked is called BJ Bowers also  known as Calvin Bowers .He lives in Atlanta Georgia US and he is not signed to a record label.The gender of the artist is male he is 20 years old. BJ Bowers is an Hip-Hop/Pop/R&B artist.He is born into a musical family he is the grandson of blues singer Nappy Brown who wrote Ray Charles ''night time is the right time''. BJ Bowers first started singing at the age of eight years old , all of his songs are about him and his life experiences.His first album was  released in August 2014.




Clothing

I chose these clothers and shoes for what i think my artist would like to wear in the music video. My artist is an Hip-Hop/R&B/Pop artist I wanted the person who's in my music video to have the same style of clothing.Normally an Hip-Hop/R&B/Pop artist wears Nike trainers and jumpers and gangster t-shirts to represent the vibe of the music and fashinable clothing. The colours are natural for Hip-Hop/R&B and pop artist to show the fashion and the clothings also show a new trend to the audience to embrace their culture that they are wearing for example snapbacks artist always wear snapbacks to show their personality. And some artists use clothers as a symbol to be recognised as.

 Mise-en-scence

These are mise-en-scene I have chosen these because this is what I imagined he is saying when you listen to his music that he produces. These locations that I have chosen connote with the song for example in a bedroom,recording studio,or walking around in Hyde Park.The recording studio shows independency for a upcoming artist breaking into the music industry and to give audience new music from an artist that they haven't heard from before and also to get more views on the music video and to show the audience the artist is different from other musicians and trying to get popularity.






Text

These font above are the fonts I would use for my artists logo. I have got fonts that match the artist and their personality and the handwriting of the fonts are clearly to see.I have chosen five different colours of font they are black,red,green,blue and also orange to match the mood of the artists energetic and what mood they are in and for the artist to have in his music that it is clear to understand for the audience and I picked different fonts for this artist because he has different emotions that he has in all of his videos from being happy to being sad.

Colours

I  have chosen these colours that I would like to use for my artists identity as they match the artist that I have chosen and the colours shows his emotions in all of his music the black shows his past and what happened in his life the colour suits the mood of the artist.The orange,blue,green and red shows what he has done so far making music videos to match the different vibe of every song that he has made  by following his family's footsteps by becoming an music artist.The audience would be able to respect the artist in the music video.


Imagery

When I was listening to this song the imagery from this song i had a memory in my mind.The images represents the artists mood in the song. For example ''he say he cant live without you'' tells us he is lonely and missing the love of his life all alone and he need someone to talk to. All of the pictures that I picked the emotions of his life and the song tell us his pain when he was in a relationship with his girlfriend and other people getting involved in his relationship and  he feels to angry and annoyed and he feels like he has got the world on his shoulders.

This song that I  have chosen is aimed at a target audience of 15-20 year olds males and females can both relate to this song as the artist sings about his past experiences and they also could have gone through a similar experience..The singer is a very emotional man so the audience can relate to the artist and the song as they can hear the emotions of the artist singing and the song is aimed to all races and also he is an R&B,Pop,Hip-Hop  by having different genres of music helps get more fans to support the artist.

Analysing the lyrics
The music artist is singing about his relationship with his girlfriend and he feels like he has the world on his shoulders because everybody is telling his girlfriend to leave him and the song is also about wanting to commit suicide and he doesn't want to tell anyone because he is afraid that they are going to say I told you so.The song has the same chorus thoughtout the lyrics of the song the song also had different tones to embrace the emotions of the artist and what he is going through.Also in the song he talks about how nobody loves him and he talks about jumping of a building.

Analysing the music
The artists matches the beat and the vibe to the song. The instruments that the artist has got is a piano normally R&B,Pop,Hip-Hop artists don't have that in their song.Also the piano starts at the beginning of the song and it carry's on thoughout to the end the song has a good vibe.

Analysing the tempo
The song first starts off with a stable pace and beat and the song also has a good beat and the tone
slightly up when the artist is showing his emotions and the song carry's on with a good beat thoughout the song.and the chorus goes higher when the artist says ''I want to jump of this building''and the song and the beat is not too loud and at the end the tone of the song goes down and the beat stops and its just the artist singing and the piano stops.

How you would visually communicate this in a music video
For my music video I would use amplifying for the music video would start off with a boy who will be singing. The amplify  would show the boy singing and he is emotional because he does not want to be heartbroken.
